Ladies and Gentlemen

Dear travel and fortress friends,

Enclosed we are presenting the program folder of a new fortification study tour to Rome for the period from September 23rd to October 1st, 2023.

This tour is again a pilot tour as part of FORTE CULTURA, which will take us to Italy for the second time since our Verona tour in 2015.

Thanks to the willingness of local authorities and interested specialist groups, we can once again look forward to an exciting program that will open up prospects for new contacts, acquaintances and, above all, new information. Representatives of the Guardia di Finanza and the University of Rome are looking forward to our visit with interest. Special permits, e.g. from a noble family from Naples, also open doors for us that are closed to normal tourists.

In the recent past, as well as at present, major restoration and revitalization works can be observed on the historic fortified heritage of Rome and the surrounding region. Great efforts are being made with success to preserve this legacy, as can be seen when compiling the program folder. In this respect, we can expect an extremely varied week.

The travel offer on the basis of half-board results from a tender that was extremely difficult due to the seasonal timing and the international Ryder Cup taking place in Rome at the same time, which had a significant impact on the hotel offer. Unfortunately, the consequences of the pandemic and the war-related oil crisis have not had a beneficial effect on pricing either. Nevertheless, we have managed to find a hotel close to the city that will keep its offer of currently 3 double rooms and 5 single rooms open until the end of April. After that, rooms can only be allocated that have not been booked elsewhere, or we would have to resort to another hotel that is not so centrally located. It would therefore be advantageous if a minimum of 10 people can register by April 14th in order to secure this hotel.

Therefore, please make good use of an early registration. The application form is now available.

As soon as ten registrations have been received, the trip is approved and we can make the flight bookings immediately.

Incidentally, the program folder is still available in a higher quality; however, I would then have to send it to you by means of a WeTransfer upon request. The program itself may be subject to changes, also with regard to your suggestions, provided these can be implemented in time and integrated into the program flow.

We would be delighted if you are interested in this tour again.

With best regards

Valentina and Hans-Rudolf Neumann
